BIOGRAPHY
Caroline Walls is a contemporary artist whose practice explores the female psyche, intimacy, and connection through painting. Working with a restrained palette and delicate layers of oil, her works evoke a quiet tension between figure and fabric, where drapery becomes a symbolic extension of the female form. Informed by her perspective as a queer woman, her paintings weave together personal, historical, and imagined narratives, creating spaces that are at once interior and otherworldly.
Walls completed an Honours degree in Visual Communication and Design at Swinburne University of Technology, before spending extensive time living abroad, between London and New York. On return to Australia she completed post-graduate studies in contemporary visual arts at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and currently lives and works in Melbourne.
Her solo exhibitions include 'She Once Was', Olsen Gallery (2026), 'Touching From A Distance', James Makin Gallery (2024), ‘Mother Lover’, Jerico Contemporary (2022) ‘Resemblance’, Jerico Contemporary (2020), ‘Darker Places’, Fortyfivedownstairs, Melbourne (2018), ‘Maybe She’, Saint Cloche Gallery, Sydney (2017) and ‘The Women’, Gallerysmith Project Space, Melbourne (2015).
